a series of bird-paintings that are landscape paintings in their own right.

The Australian landscape distinguishes itself from the European one in many ways; apart from the differences in flora and fauna, it is unique because of its special light-balance — which makes the colours stand out differently. Being a professional photographer as well, I measured a consistent extra 1-2 aperture stops, which means a two- to fourfold light-intensity!! This makes for a stunning crispness in shades too — truly a land of contrasts...
